You'll monitor themes and concerns affecting registrar wellbeing, supervision, placement experiences and participation in training, providing senior clinical advice and supporting appropriate escalation and resolution where needed.You'll be a key link between Health NZ, the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (RNZCGP), training providers, supervisors and registrars. Through trusted relationships, professional credibility and sound clinical judgement, you'll help navigate matters that sit at the interface between employment and training.During the establishment phase, you'll also help to shape and implement the new GPEP1 employment and support model, including clinical governance, registrar support and escalation pathways, before supporting its transition into business-as-usual operation.Importantly, this role is focused on Health NZ's responsibilities around employment, placement, pastoral support, clinical safety and relationship management. Responsibility for programme accreditation, curriculum delivery, educational supervision, assessment, progression and remediation remains with RNZCGP and the relevant regulatory bodies.What you'll be doingThis is a role where your clinical expertise, leadership and ability to influence will have national impact. You'll:Provide national clinical leadership for Health NZ's support of GPEP1 registrars, promoting consistent approaches to employed registrar support and clinical escalation.Support employed registrar wellbeing and experience by monitoring issues affecting supervision, placement environments, professional wellbeing and participation in training.Provide senior clinical advice on complex registrar matters, supporting appropriate escalation and resolution through agreed pathways.Build trusted partnerships with RNZCGP, training providers, supervisors and Health NZ teams to support safe, suitable and effective environments for Health NZ-employed registrars.Help establish the new support model by providing clinical leadership across implementation, operational readiness, onboarding, guidance, communications and governance.Strengthen clinical governance and quality improvement through monitoring, reporting, evaluation and the use of feedback and data to identify opportunities for improvement.Represent Health NZ nationally on matters relating to registrar support and training environment concerns.Influence workforce development by supporting alignment between registrar employment support and wider primary care workforce objectives. About youYou're a respected clinical leader who can bring people together, navigate complexity and provide calm, credible advice when matters are sensitive or challenging.You'll bring:Current vocational registration as a General Practitioner in Aotearoa New Zealand.Significant experience in clinical education, vocational training, registrar support or medical workforce development.Demonstrated leadership experience within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.A strong understanding of the relationship between training, supervision and employment support.Experience navigating sensitive performance, wellbeing, supervision or professional matters.Excellent communication, relationship management and influencing skills, with the ability to build trust across professional and organisational boundaries.A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, cultural safety and inclusive leadership. It would also be advantageous to have:Fellowship of the RNZCGP.Experience as a Director of Clinical Training, educational supervisor or in an equivalent clinical leadership role.Experience working with GPEP training pathways or vocational training programmes.Experience implementing new workforce, training or support models.Experience using evaluation, reporting and feedback to drive improvement. Working at Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuring excellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
