We are seeking an experienced and passionate Consultant Psychiatrist to join Ngaa Raukohekohe Community Mental Health Team in Pukekohe. This is an opportunity to combine specialist clinical practice with meaningful clinical leadership, working alongside tangata whaiora, whaanau, and a skilled multidisciplinary team.
About the Role
You will provide specialist psychiatric assessment, treatment, and clinical leadership for adults experiencing moderate to severe mental health challenges. You’ll work closely with tangata whaiora and whaanau, multidisciplinary teams, primary and hospital services, Maaori health providers, community organisations, and peer and NGO services.
Beyond clinical care, you’ll have opportunities to contribute to service development, quality improvement, teaching, supervision, and workforce development.
Our approach is grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, cultural safety, equity, recovery, and person-centred care.
About You
We’re looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist with:
· Vocational registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Medical Council of New Zealand in Psychiatry
· Strong clinical expertise and professional judgement
· A commitment to recovery-focused, person-centred care
· Excellent communication and collaboration skills
· Clinical leadership capability and an interest in service improvement
· A commitment to equity, cultural safety, and Te Tiriti o Waitangi
· The ability to work effectively with complex presentations and contribute positively to team culture
