We are seeking to appoint a General Practitioners (GP) to join the South Taranaki Rural Health General Practice. Serving approximately 3,100 enrolled patients, this unique general practice is integrated within Hawera Hospital, providing the opportunity to work collaboratively across primary and secondary care settings. You will be supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team and work closely with colleagues in the emergency department, inpatient ward and wider allied health services. This varied role offers a broad clinical scope, continuity of care and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the health and wellbeing of the South Taranaki community. The integrated hospital and primary care model provides excellent collegial support, professional development opportunities and a rewarding rural generalist practice experience.

About us

The South Taranaki Rural Health General Practice, located at Hāwera Hospital, is a rural general practice located within Hawera Hospital, providing both acute and routine primary care services to approximately 3,100 enrolled patients. As a member of Pinnacle Midlands Health Network we are committed to delivering accessible, high-quality, patient-centred care that meets the needs of the community.

Our unique location within Hawera Hospital enables collaboration with the Emergency Department, inpatient ward and multidisciplinary team, supporting seamless care across primary, community and hospital services. This integrated model allows us to provide a broad scope of care, from preventative health and management of long-term conditions through to urgent and acute presentations.

In addition, we provide medical services to two local aged residential care facilities, working closely with residents, whanau and staff to ensure ongoing, comprehensive healthcare. Our team is dedicated to improving health outcomes and delivering care closer to home for the South Taranaki community through strong clinical partnerships, continuity of care and a commitment to equity.

Skills and experience

• Vocationally registered GP or on the pathway to achieving this
• Registration with or the ability to gain registration with the New Zealand Medical Council
