You will be joining the team at an important pointin its development, with the opportunity to contribute to the future directionof oncology services in Nelson.Asa Medical Oncologist for Nelson Marlborough, you will provide specialistassessment, diagnosis, and treatment for patients with cancer, while supportingpatients and their whānau throughout their cancer journey. Keyresponsibilities include:Providehigh-quality, patient-centred medical oncology care;Contribute tothe delivery of newly funded systemic anti-cancer treatments;Supportquality improvement and service development; andHelp shapeinnovative models of cancer care that improve access and bring treatment closerto patients and their whānau.While the position may be based in either Nelson orMarlborough, we are particularly interested in hearing from applicants whowould like to be based in Wairau Hospital, reflecting our commitment tostrengthening oncology services across the region. However, we remain flexibleand welcome applications from candidates wishing to be based at either site.The role includes travel between Nelson and Wairau Hospitals to providespecialist oncology services and support patients across the Nelson Marlboroughregion.Aboutthe Team/Service/ LocationA growing oncologyservice You will workalongside a supportive and collaborative multidisciplinary team includingMedical Oncologists, Haematologists, Oncology Nurses, Nurse Practitioners,Pharmacists, Allied Health professionals, administration staff, and Health CareAssistants across Nelson and Wairau Hospitals.Both hospitals have modernchemotherapy suites with a recently opened new facility in Nelson, bringingchemotherapy treatment and outpatient cancer clinics together in one dedicatedlocation for the first time. The facility has been designed to support thegrowing demand for cancer services across Nelson Marlborough. We are alsolooking to develop community infusions.The servicealso works closely with regional and tertiary centres, providing opportunitiesfor professional collaboration, education and development.
