We are looking for a Community and Volunteer Coordinator to help build strong volunteer networks and support inclusive community and sport and leisure opportunities for blind, deafblind and low vision people.
In this part time role (22.5hrs per week), you will coordinate the recruitment, selection, training and ongoing support of volunteers, ensuring they are well connected, appropriately prepared and supported to have a positive volunteer experience. You will also work alongside local support groups, activity groups, community committees and internal teams to ensure clients have access to timely information, practical support and meaningful opportunities to participate in their communities.
Key Results Area 1
Recruit and Select Volunteers
· Coordinate recruitment of local volunteers required to support client person centred sport and leisure and wider volunteer requests/referrals, aligning to Blind Low Vision NZ strategic plans.
Key Results Area 2
Train and Support Volunteers
· Establishment of local Volunteer Support Coordinators where possible, to assist local support groups, activity groups, committees and sport and leisure.
· Ensure all volunteers are connected to and have regular contact with Blind Low Vision NZ.
· Ensure volunteers complete required training including induction, policy, health and safety, and risk management.
Key Results Area 3
Community Support
· Liaise with local community committees and support groups to ensure they have access to appropriate client information
· Ensure regular communications from Blind Low Vision NZ to support their goals and have access to local staff for support and advice.
Key Results Area 4
Person Centred Sport and Leisure
· Work closely with the Sport and Leisure Advisor and Sport and Leisure Development Manager to facilitate inclusive sport and leisure opportunities for clients.
· Attend new client groups and provide advice and support to clients on how recreation and life enrichment activities can be adapted to suit blind and low vision clients.
· Maintain relationships with local external sport and leisure providers, including community-based clubs, sports, recreation and special interest groups suitable for clients and facilitate support to assist client integration into their activities.
· Advertise and promote local, regional, and national opportunities to clients. Ensuring up to date information is available.
· Work closely with Service Team Manager and Sport and Leisure Development Manager to provide policy and process advice to groups.
Key Results Area 5
Administration
· Maintain up to date records in Salesforce.
· Complete designated administrative tasks such as monthly reports, volunteer records, volunteer compliance and updates for the website.
Corporate Responsibility
· Undertakes performance development tasks/responsibilities in culture amp.
· Demonstrates a proactive commitment to a safe working environment to meet BLVNZ requirements
· Participates in and undertakes emergency management duties as required.
· Undertake specific projects and activities as necessary or as required to support BLVNZ.
· Maintains property and equipment.
· Fulfils administration - reporting requirements
