About the job

Bring people, planning and great client service together. Are you an approachable team leader who enjoys working alongside others and keeping things running smoothly? Join VetSouth as our Clinical Services Lead in Gore, combining day-to-day people leadership, practical coordination and great client service.

About the role

Reporting to the Hub Manager, you’ll provide day-to-day leadership for our Gore Reception and Farm Services teams and coordinate the clinical calendar across production and companion animal services. Working alongside the team and clinical leaders, you’ll support clear priorities, shared responsibilities and a balance between veterinary availability and client and patient needs.

This is a hands-on, lead role with responsibility for people and day-to-day service coordination. You’ll balance leading the team with practical involvement in daily clinic life, keeping work connected across Gore, Tapanui and the wider VetSouth team.

  • Lead the Reception and Farm Services teams day to day, coordinating workloads, providing regular feedback and supporting ongoing development in a collaborative team environment.
  • Keep the clinical calendar responsive to service demand, veterinary availability and changing priorities.
  • Work alongside Clinical Leads and the Tapanui Clinic Coordinator to anticipate pressure points and maintain effective coverage.
  • Keep information flowing and contribute practical ideas that support consistent, efficient and client-focused service.
  • Provide practical support when the team needs it and champion a safe, supportive working environment.

About you

You bring experience leading or supervising a team, along with strong organisational skills and a practical, approachable style. You enjoy working alongside others, communicate clearly and stay composed when plans change.

You’re comfortable setting expectations, making day-to-day decisions and providing feedback, while recognising when to seek support from the Hub Manager. This role would suit someone with team-level leadership experience who enjoys staying close to day-to-day operations.

  • An approachable leadership style, with confidence setting clear expectations and providing guidance, feedback and support.
  • Strong planning and coordination skills, including balancing workloads, calendars and competing demands.
  • A collaborative approach and confidence working with a range of teams and stakeholders.
  • Confidence using business systems and maintaining accurate records and schedules.
  • A willingness to roll up your sleeves while keeping sight of the bigger picture.
  • A current full driver licence and availability for reasonable travel and occasional out-of-hours work.
