We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our dedicated Palliative Care Service.
In this role, you will provide specialist palliative care consultation working collaboratively with lead clinical, nursing, and allied health teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.
About the Team/Service/ Location
The Hospital Palliative Care Team provides a consultative service across North Shore and Waitākere Hospitals, working in partnership with clinical teams to support patients and whānau. The team offers timely specialist advice, education, and liaison with community providers to help ensure seamless transitions across primary, secondary, and tertiary care.
About you
You will be an enthusiastic and motivated senior nurse with excellent knowledge of palliative care, strong assessment capability, and the confidence to advise, support, educate, and mentor others. You will bring clear, respectful, open, and friendly communication, along with sound clinical judgement and a strong commitment to patient-centred care. We are also looking for the following:
- A minimum of 4–5 years’ post-registration nursing experience.
- Experience in specialist palliative care or as a ward palliative champion.
- Recent experience in oncology, haematology, or related palliative care subspecialty interfaces is desirable.
- Proven clinical leadership, initiative, and the ability to contribute positively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to support, advise, train, and educate clinical teams, with strong liaison skills across community and hospital services.
