The Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced senior nurse to join our General Medicine service as a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) at Middlemore Hospital.
The Acute Medicine Rapid Access Clinic, known as AMRAC, is a rapid access service within the Division of Medicine. It provides urgent assessment, investigation and treatment for patients referred to acute medicine - but without requiring hospital admission. The service works closely with the Medical Assessment Unit, Emergency Department, Hospital in the Home and diagnostic services.
In this senior clinical role, you will complete advanced clinical assessments, apply sound clinical reasoning and coordinate safe, responsive care for people presenting with acute medical conditions – with a particular focus on the Chest Pain Pathway. You will identify and facilitate appropriate further tests and management via an ambulatory pathway, while also recognising when inpatient care is required.
This is an opportunity to help further develop the AMRAC service and Chest Pain Pathway as an innovative model of care that improves access, supports patient flow, reduces avoidable admissions and enables more people to receive care without admission.
You will be an experienced Registered Nurse with strong acute medical assessment skills and the confidence to work autonomously within an agreed advanced nursing scope.
You will bring excellent clinical judgement, a calm and organised approach, and the ability to make safe decisions in a fast-paced environment. You will be comfortable coordinating care across hospital and community settings and building trusted relationships with patients, whānau and multidisciplinary teams.
About You:
- Registered Nurse with a current Nursing Council of New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate.
- Completed Postgraduate Diploma with commitment to progressing toward Master's level study (or equivalent relevant qualification).
- 5+ years of recent post-registration experience in an acute clinical setting in NZ. - Ability to work autonomously while contributing positively to multidisciplinary teams.
