We are seeking a proven professional to oversee and provide quality clinical direction, focusing on leadership and governance, service development and planning, risk management, quality and service performance.

About the Role

It involves ensuring a high-quality delivery of clinical-cultural services, service development and improvement, standards compliance, leadership of medical staff and the establishment of strong partnerships with primary care, community organisations, and other Māori health providers as well as Māori cultural and clinical leaders in providing strategic direction and resource management to improve health outcomes for Māori. . This Clinical Director role will be responsible for ensuring optimal delivery of high quality clinical-cultural care which upholds Māori cultural integrity and ensures cultural safety, and provide visible leadership that integrates clinical governance with tikanga Māori and mātauranga Māori at service and divisional level. Within the role there is scope for director patient care, teaching, and supervision.

About you

• You will be an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist with a vocational registration.
• Hold a current NZMC Registration and current practising certificate.
• Have adequate experience in the Mental Health and Addiction Sector.
• Strong consumer/tāngata whai I te ora and family/whānau focus
• Strong clinical experience and experience in quality systems, policy development, professional networking and Māori community settings.
• Proven leadership skills, experience in training and overseeing medical professionals, cultural competence, ability to work in a multidisciplinary cultural team and a belief and commitment to promoting Māori values in clinical and cultural practice.
• Preferably have Te Reo Māori and/or Tikanga Qualification
