Job description

We’re looking for someone reliable, hardworking and detail-focused to join Gore District Council as a part-time Cleaner. If you take pride in maintaining high standards and enjoy working independently, this could be a great opportunity for you. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the Council’s Civic Administration Building is presented and cleaned to a high professional standard. This is a part-time position with minimum guaranteed hours of 15 hours per week, with cleaning duties undertaken Monday to Friday. From time to time, additional work may also be available to support meetings or functions held in the building. Job requirements

  • A strong eye for detail and pride in maintaining high cleaning standards.
  • A reliable and organised approach to your work.
  • The ability to work independently and complete tasks to a consistently high standard.
  • Flexibility to undertake additional work when meetings or functions require it.
  • Previous commercial cleaning experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
  • A commitment to following health and safety requirements and maintaining confidentiality.
  • Applicants must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.

Job responsibilities

  • Clean and maintain office areas, staffrooms, meeting rooms and common areas.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets, hand basins, showers and associated facilities.
  • Vacuum, mop and maintain floors throughout the building.
  • Clean kitchen and staffroom surfaces, sinks and appliances.
  • Empty rubbish and waste paper bins.
  • Replenish supplies such as soap, hand towels and toilet paper as required.
  • Clean glass, doors, handles, ledges and other surfaces.
  • Maintain the Council Chambers, meeting rooms and print areas to a high standard.
  • Follow Council health and safety procedures while undertaking all cleaning duties.
  • Provide additional cleaning support for meetings and functions when required.
